The Ixora Hotel is currently looking to recruit the following positions:
Director of Sales and Marketing
The Director of Sales and Marketing (DOSM)’s mission is to primarily promote the hotel and is fully accountable for managing the total sales effort within a hotel including the integrity of the customer base of key accounts /key prospects the generation of revenue consistent with hotel objectives and achieving agreed sales targets as detailed in the Annual Sales & Marketing Plan, and Hotel P&L Budget.
The DOSM is responsible to lead and direct the sales & marketing department to effectively achieve or exceed set goals for Sales and Marketing with regards to maximization of yields and adequate positioning as well as exposure for the property.
To perform the human resource function by ensuring staff selection, training, counselling and recognition programs are adhered to in order to maximize performance standards and to adhere to guest service standards in order to maximize guest satisfaction.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare and direct the development and implementation of the annual sales and marketing plan.
Compile, implement and monitor action plan to ensure Revenue Plan objectives are achieved
Direct all activities of hotel property sales & marketing team, providing the leadership and motivation necessary to implement effective sales and marketing strategies and maximize the generation of sales/revenue, including monthly account production and review.
Develop and implement short- and long-term sales objectives.
Develop and maintain relationships with key accounts in order to maximize room sales.
Manage the Monthly Sales Team Sales Incentive Plan, including target and production achieved for submission to the GM and Finance Manager.
Provide direction on and conduct market research.
Analyze current and potential market/trends, coordinate all activities to maintain and increase revenue.
Procure new and repeat business by monitoring contact with existing and potential clients from the agencies, commercial houses, private clubs and professional associations within local market
Make pricing decisions in line with company and property policy.
Interact with potential clients to generate corporate business for short and long stay
Meet with guests from major producers staying in the property to ensure satisfaction
Monitor competitor activities
Maintain a positive community image for self and property and remain current on local business trends. Participate in voluntary organizations which are business related.
Establish and continuously update mailing lists/ database.
Organize and attend major sales/PR related functions within the Department
Conduct regular meetings and briefing as required so as key information is communicated & disseminated properly and in a timely manner
Conduct weekly review of sales personnel activity to ensure targets and sales objectives are being met
Attend Revenue Room Meeting and Business Review and or key meetings as required
Produce monthly Sales report and forecast
Monitor, analyse report variations from the budget
Recruit new team members as required in line with company guidelines
Prepare detailed induction program for new associates
Ensure training needs analysis of sales & marketing associates is carried out and training program are designed and implemented to meet needs
Conduct probation and formal performance appraisal in line with company guidelines
Maintain up to date associate records and approved leave requests etc
Perform human resources functions to ensure that staff are selected, trained, counselled and rewarded to maintain performance standards.
Have a complete understanding of Ixora Hotel Penang’s Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures
To ensure all procedures are conducted safely and within Occupational Health and Safety guidelines (example first aid, fire and emergency procedures, hazardous situation and operate equipment safely)
Have a complete understanding of the Property’s Employee Handbook and adhere to the regulations contained within, which may from time to time be amended or replaced
Will comply with any other directive from Senior Management which may from time to time be requested.
Keeps a record on former, existing, potential clients and a profile of each of them.
Organizes regular sales visits in accordance to a predetermined plan.
Prepares a tentative monthly schedule to record all sales and other related activities for the preceding month.
Presents a summary of your sales visits to the General Manager on a daily/weekly basis (Weekly Sales Plan) prior and after the week is completed.
Ensures that all new clients have no negative credit references.
Records all daily sales.
Provides ongoing sales direction to subordinate staff by implementing the joint call program and providing guidance and direction on the development and execution of customer interviews and action plans.
Records the statistics of his/her sales accounts.
Submits production reports on his/her list of accounts on a monthly basis.
Prepares and administers the hotel Sales & Marketing Department budget on a monthly basis.
The Director of Sales and Marketing is familiar with the operation and application of the hotel’s computer / IT systems.
Keeps yourself well informed about the operations especially in key departments (Front Office, Housekeeping, F&B, Banqueting etc.).
Closely observes matters pertaining to competition (sites, prices, services offered on a regular basis – quarterly or more often if need be).
Promotes the hotel as often as possible through entertaining, conducting site inspections, presentations etc. of the hotel.
Pays visits to former, existing and potential clients in view of entering contracts with them, especially commercial accounts.
Achieves (a) budgeted revenues on key accounts and (b) conversion of key prospects through the preparation and execution of acting plans.
Defines precisely guest requirements and ensures that the guest services offered corresponds effectively to their requests.
Provides after-sales service and in particular to ensure all guests complaints are taken seriously and discussed with the respective departments if necessary.
Receives in the hotel any important guests.
Negotiates prices with the clients.
Confirms verbal proposals in writing.
Ensures that all complaints are reviewed, investigated and follow-up action is initiated.
MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS
Hosting client evening and luncheons for corporate and trade contacts.
Full responsibility for overseeing, managing and developing the Ixora brand through advertising, signage, print, graphics, and all the tools of marketing.
Seeking editorial and positive press around Ixoa Hotel.
Controlling web and other social media activity and measuring regularly the sites presence and activity.
Attendance at trade shows and trade events, seminars, meetings and conferences.
Targeting markets that match Ixora’s distinct product and fit into the overall marketing plan.
Tailoring all Marketing and Sales activities to fit into the “Marketing and Sales Plan”
This list of duties is not exhaustive as you will be required to carry out other duties as assigned to you from time to time by the General Manager.
The Director of Sales and Marketing maintains a close working rapport with professional people, the press, media, staff, clients/guests and companies who are potential existing and current supporters of the hotel.
Candidate must possess at least Diploma or above qualification in relevant field
At least 10 Year(s) of working experience in the related field
Preferably Senior Manager specialized in Marketing/Business Development or equivalent.
Candidate will act as a Management for this job position.
