HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS KUALA LUMPUR CITY CENTRE Hotel is currently looking to recruit the following positions:

SALES MANAGER
As Sales Manager you’ll be under the general guidance and supervision of the Director of Sales or Director of Sales & Marketing or designate, and within the limits of established InterContinental Hotel Group policies and procedures, develop business through direct sales solicitation but not limited to rooms and catering sales for an assigned territory or market segment(s). Duties involve developing new accounts, maintaining existing accounts and implementation of sales strategies.

You will influence bookings behaviour into the hotel through creative & innovative selling in support of hotels & IHG initiatives to achieve individual and hotel budgets. Additionally, maintain a comprehensive understanding & knowledge of market & competitor activities & behaviour.

Your day-to-day

People
Support internal stakeholders as well as external ones in communicating information in an accurate and timely manner
Manage everyday activities, plan and assign work
Develop and maintain great working relationships with key accounts and outside contacts to promote new business and increase revenue
Interact with outside contacts:
Guests – to ensure their total satisfaction
Airlines, wholesalers, corporate accounts, travel agencies, ad agencies within local, domestic and international markets – to ensure repeat business, follow up on events, and generate new business
Other contacts as needed (Professional organizations, community groups, local media etc)
Arrange and conduct special events, site inspections, and off-site presentations for potential clients
Entertain clients in accordance with established company and hotel policies and guidelines
Maintain client files and update information daily in accordance with established departmental policies and procedures
Produce monthly sales-related reports and sales forecasts for assigned area of responsibility
Work closely with other hotel departments to facilitate services agreed upon by the sales office and prospective clients. Disseminate sales-related information to other departments as appropriate.
Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments. Key departmental contacts include all hotel departments.
Review the daily business levels, anticipate critical situations, and plan effective solutions in conjunction with department heads to best expedite these situations
Financial Returns
Establish client base of individuals, organizations, associations, social, corporate and/or travel agent businesses through direct outside and inside selling to secure business for all facets of the hotel to ensure that room night sales and revenue goals are met or exceeded
Achieve personal and team goals as assigned
Actively prospect and qualify new business
Grow and maintain existing accounts to maximize and pursue all businesses opportunities
Bring back old businesses
Initiate and prepare tenders for business
Negotiate guest room rates, meeting room rental, function space, and/or hotel services within approved booking guidelines. Accurately produce and/or review all sales contracts, rate agreements, and/or banquet/catering event orders
Develop and maintain a good relationship with clients by conducting regular sales activities patterns such as sales calls, telemarketing, inspections, entertainments, meetings with principals of assigned territory or market segment(s)
Produce monthly or quarterly reports to analyse current / potential accounts, coordinate activities to increase revenue and market share and monitor performance to ensure actual sales meet or exceed established revenue plan
Monitor competitors’ activities, conduct market research and assist in market intelligence
Cross selling IHG properties and refer leads via IHG LeadShare
Utilize IHG sales platforms and tools to increase business opportunities and revenue
May assist in developing and implementing sales plans. May also participate in the annual budgeting and planning process
Guest Experience
Help guests – you’ll be happy to help if someone needs assistance with a request or complaint
Provide guests with information (example: loyalty programmes, area attractions, restaurants, facility information) to enhance guest experience
Provide accurate information and correspondences in written or verbal communication on a timely manner
Maintain regular good contact with accounts / clients through account management activities such as entertainment, conduct familiarisation tour and site inspection to enhance business opportunities
Coordinate, maintain and utilize an updated database of contacts
Attend and represent hotel at trade shows and conventions and/or participate in sales trips to key feeder markets
Follow up with clients regularly during and after departure to ensure satisfaction and secure future bookings
May coordinate business group activities at the hotel and work closely with other departments to facilitate services agreed upon by the sales office and prospective clients.

Recommend and implement all sales and marketing opportunities
Respond to all guests’ feedback and enquiries in a timely and professional manner in accordance to brands’ standards
Identify opportunities for IHG Rewards Club and IHG Business Rewards channels to further enhance hotel business
Responsible Business
Achieve personal and team sales goals as assigned
Produce monthly reports and sales forecasts for assigned area of responsibility
Actively participate in forecasting and goal setting. Participate in the annual budget process, and development of sales and marketing plans
Monitor and handle inquiry calls and provide client proposals in accordance with established departmental policies and procedures
Identify improvements to sales activities and overall hotel sales performance and work with other departments
Effectively communicate and market aspects of the hotel and use information to gain new business opportunities
Ensure a safe and secure environment for guests, team members and hotel assets in compliance with hotel’s or owner’s policies and procedures and regulatory requirements
Develop and carry out action plans to be environmentally friendly in line with IHG Green Engage initiatives
Ad-hoc duties – unexpected moments when we have to pull together to get a task done

Accountability
Sales Manager will fulfill a role with established sales goals within the hotel reporting directly to the Director of Sales or Director of Sales & Marketing.

What we need from you
Diploma / Bachelor’s degree / higher education qualification / equivalent in sales or marketing or related field
One to four years of experience in a hospitality or hotel sales and marketing setting with direct supervisory experience over a sales team, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
Ability to travel to outstation and overseas for business purposes
May be required to work out of regular working hours
Must speak fluent English
Other languages preferred
